Greenwich Police reported there was a Larceny at Holly Hill transfer station on Wednesday around noon.
According to Lt. David Nemecek, the incident took place in the recycling/book swap area.
A women’s purse was stolen from her car in the moments she tipped her recycling into the dumpster.
Lt. Nemecek characterized the incident as a crime of opportunity.
“Don’t give someone a chance to make you a victim,” he said, adding that it is wise to make a copy of both the front and back of all credit cards and write down the phone number to call in the event a card is stolen.
