The event will feature brews and pours from more than 30 of Connecticut’s finest craft breweries, local food trucks, live music, lawn games and activities alongside the picturesque view of Greenwich Harbor.

The proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Live Green CT!’s Zero Waste Fellowship, which is an effort to crowdsource innovative ideas and implement programs and practices that will provide environmental education, encourage food rescue, food scrap composting, increase recycling rates, minimize trash, and reduce material costs in our schools.

The festival is produced by Live Green Connecticut!, a non-profit organization dedicated to everyday sustainability practices.

General admission is from 1:00pm until 4:30pm.

Tickets are $40 ($35 before August 31).

Doors will open one hour earlier, at 12:00 noon, for VIP ticket holders; these tickets cost $75 ($65 before August 31).  The VIP tent will also offer specialty brews and pours not available in other areas of the festival.

“The Last Taste of Summer is a can’t-miss event,” said Live Green CT! co-founder and event organizer Scot Weicker, a Greenwich resident. “Our goal is to provide a fun and delicious experience while raising awareness and funds to support zero waste programs and education in our schools.”

Live Green CT! was co-founded by Daphne Dixon and Scot Weicker.

For seven years, Live Green CT! has educated over 15,000 people about everyday sustainability practices.

The focus now, has turned to zero-waste schools and programs that can help all schools in Connecticut become more sustainable.

According to a report compiled by the Waste and Resources Action Program, approximately 60 million metric tons of food are wasted every year in the United States, with an estimated value of $162 billion.

About 32 million metric tons of it ends up in landfills, at a cost of about $15 million a year to local governments.

“Food waste is a global issue and managing it at a local level is something we can control. We are delighted that we can incorporate sustainability into our craft beer festival and show residents how easily they can have a positive and lasting impact on the environment, even when they are relaxing and having a good time,“ said Daphne Dixon, co-founder and executive director of Live Green Connecticut!

The breweries participating in the event include:  Armada Brewing, Ballast Point, Charter Oak Brewery, Lock City Brewing Company, New England Cider, New Belgium Brewing, Owls Brew Raddler, Shiner, Spiked Seltzer, Stony Creek, Tito’s Vodka and Thimble Island.

A variety of food trucks will be on-site selling food including: Bobby Q’s, Cowabunga, Lobster Craft, Melt Mobile, and Wendy’s Weenies.

The event will have live music throughout the afternoon. The line up includes:  the cool summer steel drum sound of the Wilton Steel Community Band, blues and rock ‘n roll from The Clams, and Sacred Fire, a Santana tribute band.
