Letter submitted by Nancy Coughlin, director of Neighbor to Neighbor, May 30, 2017
On behalf of the thousands of Greenwich residents served by Neighbor to Neighbor’s food pantry, I would like to thank the National Association of Letter Carriers and the many Greenwich residents who participated in this year’s Stamp Out Hunger food drive in May. Despite rainy, cold weather, dozens of volunteers, including members of the Stanford University Alumni Club, collected and sorted food donations from all corners of our town.
Almost 27,000 pounds of food was donated in one day, allowing Neighbor to Neighbor to provide nutritious food on a weekly basis at no cost to seniors, families and individuals struggling to make ends meet. Donations will support our Summer Supplement program, which provides extra food for students when they are home from school during the summer months.
A special thanks is owed to letter carrier Marlon Brown and those along his Putnam Hill and Putnam Park route for donating more food than any other route.
This important food drive would not be possible without the hard work of letter carriers Howie Dinnerstein and Sonny Migliaccio and underwriting support from Kings Food Market, and of course, the generous and conscientious residents of Greenwich.
We truly are grateful. Thank you!
