Staff from First County Bank brought some great books for Greenwich pre-schoolers to read over the summer.
On Thursday morning Jack Dowling, AnnaMarie Boccuzzi and Jeff Robinson traveled to Armstrong Court to present books to the Kids Corner Head Start three- to five-year old’s.
According to Mr. Dowling, an Assistant Vice President at the bank, employees donated the books. “They gave us a list of books from their summer reading list and our employees brought books to our company picnic,” he said.
“There were hundreds of books,” said Jeff Robinson, Assistant Vice President and branch manager of the Greenwich location of First County Bank. As Mr. Robinson and his colleagues made their way into the Kids Corner classroom full of tiny chairs and tables, they got down on the floor with the children and made each feel special. The Kids Corner Head Start teachers — Elena Perisa, Elizabeth Dallas, Maria Soriano and Aga Lagatta — stood by as the First County Bank representatives called each child up by name to receive their books.
The children were absolutely delighted with their books which included many Dr. Seuss classics, and all remembered to say thank you. The looks on their faces said it all.
The book giveaway was organized by Greenwich Alliance for Education, with executive director Julie Faryniarz instrumental in the process.
