At Greenwich High School, members of student government are planning a food truck fair to raise funds for Kids in Crisis.
VP of Community Service, Emily Bass, who recently won the Ernest Fleishman award for community service, explained that she and VP of Special Events Jimmy Catalano had wanted to do a fundraiser for Kids in Crisis, the only free, round-the-clock help for children, teens and parents in Fairfield County, for a long time.
“We did a survey of all the kids and what they wanted to raise money for,” Emily said. “It was for Kids in Crisis.”
The event includes teens beyond student government. “We reached out to art students and musicians, and all the kids in SRO,” she said.
Emily said from there, students contacted several food trucks and came up with five participants: Hapa with American Street food and Asian Pacific Cuisine, Roadside Cafe, Crazy Taco Mex, the Foodie Group and Kona Ice.
In addition to the variety of eats, there will be face painting, temporary henna tattoos and a bake sale.
The food truck fair is set for Saturday, May 6 in the GHS south parking lot.The event runs from 11:30am to 3:00pm.
There will also be live music from Greenwich High School singers, a band quartet and guitarists.
“We want parents, families and students all to turn out,” Emily said. “Everyone is welcome.”
