A letter was sent to Hamilton Avenue School parents on Wednesday announcing the departure of principal Cindy Rigling. Rigling was appointed by former Greenwich Schools Superintendent Bill McKersie.
Dear Hamilton Avenue families,
It is with very mixed emotions that I write to inform you that I will resign from my position as principal of Hamilton Avenue School.
There are times when there are opportunities that simply can not be ignored. Although I was not in any way looking to leave my post at Hamilton Avenue School, a great professional opportunity has emerged, a leading position with GEMS World Academy in Chicago, Illinois, effective July 1, 2017.
GEMS World Academy is a STEM and International Baccalaureate school, which combines two frameworks based on research for education in which I believe deeply.
I am sure that the STEM work we have begun on Hamilton Avenue will continue to be maintained with the person who replaced me.
There is great enthusiasm in this school and a mentality to keep growing and advancing. We are a community of students and leaders on Hamilton Avenue. Together we have grown; Every year a little stronger and wiser.
It has been an honor and privilege to have been able to play my role as director of Hamilton Avenue for the past two years. I am so grateful to have been able to work with each of you and your incredible children and also for the tremendous amount of support I received from both the Board of Education and the Hamilton Avenue parent community as we developed the new theme of this specialized school or magnet school. I would never have imagined that I could count on such a professional team of teachers and staff as the Hamilton Avenue team.
This school will always have a special place in my heart.
I will stay in my current position until the end of June and hope to stay in communication with many of you during the next few months. I want to keep hearing about the success of Hamilton Avenue!
I wish you all the best,
Cindy C. Rigling, M.Ed.
Director, Hamilton Avenue School
