Greenwich Police report a motor vehicle laws violation at about 1:40am on April 8 in the area of I95 and Putnam Ave.
According to Lt. Kraig Gray, the incident started out when police spotted a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.
“The Officer attempted to catch up and the car took off,” Gray said, adding that the officer engaged in pursuit.
“It appeared the vehicle was traveling at an unsafe speed, which the officer estimated was in excess of 100 mph as it headed over into the New York jurisdiction.”
Gray said the officer turned on his lights, but the vehicle accelerated away.
The car got on at exit 5 and police broke off the chase at exit 4. The car was a newer Dodge Challenger.
