It may be vacation week for Greenwich Schools, but the girls Lacrosse teams at Greenwich High School will be busy playing, and on Tuesday their “give back” game will benefit The Parkinson’s Foundation.
“Every year we play for something,” said Caitlin Copelan, GHS Girls Varsity Coach. “One year we played for Wounded Warriers. One year it was Coaches Versus Cancer. We’ve also played for Alzheimer’s and for the Emily Fedorko Foundation.”
April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month, and on Tuesday, April 11, girls at all three levels have games scheduled at home, so coach Copelan thought it would be the perfect opportunity to raise awareness and funds for The Parkinson’s Foundation.
“We take our athletic capability for granted sometimes,” said senior Erika Bloes. “It’s important to show passion for our sport and also play for a cause, and Parkinson’s is a terrible disease that robs people of their mobility.”
The girls will take donations at the door and hold a bake sale.
Varsity will play in Cardinal Stadium at 12:00 noon.
JV will play in Field #3 at 1:30pm
Freshmen will play in Field #3 at 3:30pm.
