A voter registration drive outside New Lebanon School on Thursday, the last day of school, was a success.
The registration was organized by the school’s PTA. “We’ve had a lot of people since the building thing going on, because they are interested in the process. This is another step to getting involved in the community,” Sanchez said.
“The turnout has been nice,” said Sanchez, who had collected about a dozen voter registration forms at the end of a half hour’s work. The registration form was provided in both English and Spanish.
Sanchez said New Leb parents have become aware of the power one person can have after becoming directly involved in the process of choosing a location for a new New Lebanon School.
“And a lot of people are taking the registration form home because they’re eager to celebrate the end of school by going to the park or beach,” she said, adding that she planned to take the completed forms to the registrar of voters office on Friday morning.
