The concern of the sign’s appearance was brought to the board’s attention by former youth commission member Holly Roth and graduate of Sacred Heart Greenwich.

Current Sacred Heart delegate Grace Thompson wanted to retrieve the project and complete her predecessor’s work.

The Youth Commission is working to gain permission from the State to reinvigorate the current sign.

“We have pride in our town and very much want the entry way into our community to be as welcoming as it can,” said project manager and commission member Grace Thompson.

“We are also exploring design and funding possibilities to help make it the best it can be,” said Graham Plewniack, treasurer for the YouthCommission.

“The current youth commission members are envisioning this as spring project. They are hopeful for it to be the seniors end of year gift to Greenwich,” said Jenny Byxbee, of the Greenwich Youth Services Bureau.

The existing sign which says, “Welcome to Greenwich, Gateway to New England,” is on the border of Port Chester and Greenwich.
