YWCA Greenwich is seeking candidates for their annual Racial Justice Scholarship Award.
Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors who have made a special effort to encourage people to respect differences, to promote equality and to eliminate all forms of bigotry, bias and racism in their school or the community.
Candidates may be nominated by a member of the faculty of any Greenwich high school or by the general public.
Scholarship monies will be awarded to two high school seniors who live in Greenwich and attend a Greenwich school.
Applications can be found on the YWCA website at www.ywcagreenwich.org/2017-racial-justice-scholarship-award.
Completed applications must be returned to Joan Mockler, YWCA Greenwich, Director of Communications and Racial Justice at j.mockler@ywcagreenwich.org no later than April 7. Award recipients will be notified on April 21.
The awards will be presented at the Stand Against Racism event at Town Hall on Friday, April 28. The recipients must be able to attend the event, which takes place from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
YWCA Greenwich, has been making a difference in the lives of families, spanning babies to seniors, since 1919. We provide preschool and after school programs, youth athletics, adult health and fitness programs and adult seminars. YWCA Greenwich is also the only agency in Greenwich licensed and accredited to treat victims of domestic violence.
