Jennie Armeno, 90, of Greenwich, passed away Sunday, March 5 at Greenwich Hospital.
Mrs. Armeno was born in Port Chester, New York on March 2, 1927, the daughter of the late John and Catherine Barresi DiLeo.
She was raised and educated in Port Chester, graduating from Port Chester High School in 1945.
Mrs. Armeno was introduced to her future husband, Gregory Armeno by her younger brother Pat, they were married on April 25, 1948 and had been married for 68 years.
Mrs. Armeno was a devoted wife and loving mother to her greatest gift, her daughter, Linda. After raising her daughter, Mrs. Armeno entered the workforce and worked at SUNY Purchase College for 20 years for the Bursar’s Office.
She enjoyed working so much that even after her official retirement, she returned to SUNY Purchase to work on a part-time basis.
Mrs. Armeno spent much of her free time caring for her family and doting on her two granddaughters. Mrs. Armeno loved her family and friends more than anything and cherished all time spent with them. She was an advid reader, enjoyed traveling with her husband, spending time on at the beach and enjoyed caring for her beloved dogs. Mrs. Armeno had a beautiful and selfless soul. She loved making others happy which was easy to do with her radiant smile and warm heart. Mrs. Armeno was a true believer that laughter was the best medicine.
Her husband, Gregory Armeno, predeceased her in December 2016. She is survived by her, daughter, Linda A. Christiansen and her husband, Peter M. Christiansen, of Greenwich; two granddaughters, Jennifer C. Butler and her husband, Barron Butler, and Jordan L. Christiansen, both of Greenwich; and one great-granddaughter, Carolina Christiansen Butler. She is predeceased by her brothers; Anthony, Vincent, Joseph, and Patsy DiLeo. She is also survived her sister-in-law, Mary DiLeo of FL, a nephew, nieces, and several great nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Armeno’s family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to Dr. Marcus Mayus, Dr. Francis Walsh and Dr. Kevin Conboy, who went above and beyond their duties in caring for her.
Friends and family may call at the Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home located at 134 Hamilton Avenue, Greenwich on March 8, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, located at 136 S. Regent St., Port Chester, New York.
Internment will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Port Chester, New York.
