The Greenwich Arts Council has announced that Executive Director, Paul Master-Karnik, will resign as of June 30, 2017.

This action represents Mr. Master-Karnik’s formal retirement from a 45 year career in the arts as an art historian with a Ph.D. from Rutgers, lecturer and critic, museum director, arts administrator, and, for the past eight years as Executive Director of the GAC.

Coming to Greenwich from his position as Director of DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park in Massachusetts, Master-Karnik has worked to present important exhibitions, to expand programming and arts education especially to youth audiences, and to forge new collaborations with numerous other arts and cultural organizations in the area.

At the same time, social media and other communications have been completely reinvented to increase public visibility and overall audience development while enlarging the Council’s fundraising capacity on many different fronts.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Paul during his successful tenure here as Executive Director, and he will be greatly missed by the staff, Board members and volunteers of GAC,” said Board of Director’s President, Leah Marmon.

Master-Karnik noted that it was a privilege to lead such an effective and dynamic an organization as the Council, and he looks forward to assisting the Search Committee headed by Board Members Laura Cunningham and Robbie Kestnbaum in the search for his replacement.

The Greenwich Arts Council is located at 299 Greenwich Avenue. For further information go to www.greenwichartscouncil.org.
